When i was in doing my bachelors in engineering, i wondered why the agencies which help students with the process of overseas education charged so much! Of course i didn't explore anything much on that front except musing at that thought..when idle or relevant. My roomie (NP) had this "fly to US" dream and used to recite the list of universities etc. which i used to just listen n leave it to air, except for few things which can be summarized as typical application process for MS in US. Anyways, i never was inclined/quantified the rigor of the overseas education processes, though.
Recently as i made up my mind to explore the MBA options in US and elsewhere, i started browsing the portals for relevant info. The chores of browsing during the last week gave me a glimpse of the typical overseas admission processes. I would say one needs perseverance in amassing relevant information, jotting down the dates, preparing the info. for the application and coordinating the whole process of applying for the foreign universities. Nevertheless one needs miraculous help in spotting genuine and useful resources for sponsoring/scholarship info. and coping with their respective guidelines. In this wake i would say a virtuoso in overseas admission processes will be really handy and saves lot of energy and time. Although reasonably pricing and customized services are rare features of an educational consultant, one can spot a best-fit type, if they hunt with brains. Also, particularly for students/professionals planning MBA overseas, i would suggest one needs to start planning for the course/finance as early as 1-1.5 years before the tentative date of course commencement. If you are short of time, always look for a good consultant rather than trying to steer the whole thing by yourselves. Wish you good luck :) !
I am just posting few links which might be of some help (especially for indian students):
